The latest activity I came up with to entertain my toddler involved water, food colouring, and cornstarch. I placed cornstarch with a little bit of water in one bowl for a squishy texture and just plain water in another bowl. I then provided my daughter with some scoops and spoons for experimenting. I sat on the sidelines and just let her do her thing but would occasionally add a drop or 2 of various colours of food colouring into the water or cornstarch for her to experiment with.
By the end everything was a gross colour and things were rather wet (you might want to strip your kid down for this rather than just rolling up their sleeves.) But all in all we managed to pass a good 45 minutes by with some awesome exploratory fun!
Check out that look of utmost concentration!
So proud of her concoction hehe.
What kinds of fun activities do you like doing with your toddler? Feel free to share! I'd love more ideas!!!
Ooh, what great messy fun!! What toddler wouldn't love that?! Thanks for sharing at our Shine on Fridays party!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly was and thank you! It was my pleasure. :)
DeleteThat looks like a lot of fun. I think my daughter would love that too. I found this through the COnfessions of a Stay at Home Mom link party. I'm your newest follower. ~Megan
ReplyDeleteAwesome I hope she does! Thank you!
DeleteWe have our kids in Montessori and they do these kinds of things all the time, they are great. I usually put our daugther at the kitchen sink with a whole bunch of plastic measuring cups, spoons, etc. and some bubbles and she has alot of fun. Can keep her occupied for a good hour. Also she likes measuring out lentils into cups, really helps with hand eye coordination, I set her up at the table with come cups and measuring spoons again (I put the whole thing on a big cookie tray) and let her go to town. A few suggestions for you. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome! I've done the sink one but she enjoyed spilling the water back onto the floor even more hahaha. The lentils sounds like a great idea though!
DeleteLove this.. I have a 2 year old.. I must try this!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at friday fun party
