When I was pregnant with Anna I took a photo almost every week using my cell phone in the mirror of both facing forward and sideways. I love having those photos to look back on and watch my stomach grow as the time passes however they were rather rough looking and poor quality.
This pregnancy I wanted to do something a bit more special but still rather simple; I scoured pinterest trying to come up with ideas. At first I found this image and absolutely loved it however I didn’t have a basic white dress to wear plus I wanted to show my bare stomach so I kept searching.
Finally I landed upon this beautiful image and it was love at first sight! I even had a scarf that would do the trick!
Now that I knew what I wanted to wear and had a basic vision in my mind I set about to making it happen! Being that we didn’t have any empty wall space in our house, especially empty wall space that would not change with our renovations, I put up a basic white blanket to create some.
Here I will note, use a light fabric!! I really wanted a white backdrop and the only fabric I could find in our house (I didn’t want to spend any money) was quite heavy and it was a paainnnn to use! Eventually I remembered I had a basic white fabric shower curtain from Anna’s old bedroom laying around that I stalked down and started using instead, this has been much easier to tape up to the wall! I do miss the beautiful texture of my blanket but it does still have some texture to make things interesting!
Now shall we bring on some pictures? I started at 13 weeks when I first started to show.
I really enjoyed using some props to celebrate special events like Easter!
And for the week before we found out whether we were having a boy or a girl I posed with blue and pink crayons!
The photo for when we found out we were having a boy was super fun to do!
And here is this week’s photo!
I took all these photos myself just setting up my camera on a makeshift tripod using a table, cookbooks, etc. to get it to the right level. I also pose right in front of a window which provides a nice glow for my belly.
I will be getting professional maternity photos done in August but I will forever cherish this little timeline to document my babies growing home!

This is a great idea!! I love you creativity with props. Thanks for sharing!
