This past Mother’s Day sure was a special one! I got so spoiled; not even necessarily with material goods (although I certainly did get spoiled in that department!) but mainly with good company, good food, and amazing memories!
The weekend started off on Saturday by going to my friend Crystal’s sons 2nd birthday party! Anna had a blast playing and eating cupcakes and I had a good time catching up with my old friends. I’ve noticed Anna is quite the independent player and prefers to play by herself vs. with other children. She won’t get upset if other kids are around but she certainly keeps to herself; on a side note she does share very well!
Anna absolutely loved this car! She didn’t want to go anywhere in it but she had a blast opening and closing the doors along with turning the wheel and honking the horn!
After the party we went and hung out with my mom and dad. We had a good time visiting and savoured a delicious dinner of meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, and peas! We also swung by the local nursery in town to pick up some vegetable transplants for my garden! I’ll have a post about those once I plant them!
The next day, Sunday, Charles treated me by getting up with Anna so I could sleep in and making me a delicious breakfast of eggs, croissants, watermelon, and strawberries! Yummmy!! Charles also spoiled me with a beautiful card made by himself and Anna and a pair of DeWalt palm sanders!
Afterwards Anna had a nap and then we went for a lovely walk at the park by the river before meeting up with Charles’ parents for lunch of paninis, salad, and nine layer dip!
In the afternoon all of us loaded up into our 2 vehicles (Charles mom has a VW Tiguan and we drove our VW GLI, it’s quite the beautiful convoy hehe) and went for a drive to explore some nurseries in the valley.
We visited 2 different nurseries and they were absolutely gorgeous! There were a lot of interesting plants and they also had some cute displays set up complete with lawn ornaments.
Sasquatch anyone?
Anna had a grand time exploring with Charles’ sister Julie and running around the plants.
There was even a big friendly dog for Anna to visit with.
The next nursery we visited also had quite the grand set up; Charles and I decided one day we want to create a little zen garden at the front of our house with a river and some “zen” ornaments like little pagodas and things.
I was rather partial to this monk and wished I could take him home; just looking at him made me feel wiser!
There was also an attached shop with some unique finds in it like this twist on a rain chain. I’ve seen a lot of the newer homes built with them where instead of having a drainage spout a chain is installed instead and the rain just flows down it. I can envision this version being very beautiful and having the rain cascade down it like a little waterfall while filling up all the little cups.
After the nurseries we headed back to Charles’ parents and relaxed in their yard and later enjoyed a delicious dinner of BBQ chicken, potatoes, salad, spanakopita's, and tiramisu for dessert!
All in all I had an amazing weekend with those I love the most! Did you guys do anything special or get spoiled for Mother’s Day?
Be sure to tell Charles to put that Sasquatch on the list for next year! It's a must have, isn't it?! LOL. Happy Mother's Day! Now where is a picture of the mom-to-be? I love baby bumps pictures :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if you had a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend. Your daughter is absolutely precious, and I really enjoy your blog. I love DIY too! I just bought my first home and now I get to live out all my HGTV fantasies, LOL!
