Today I want to share with you a fabulous sauce I quickly threw together for pizza! I initially wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out, nor did I think it would turn out so fabulously I would want to blog about it, so I never took pictures of the process. However let me tell you, this sauce is soooo simple, and so delicious, you’ll never need to buy pizza sauce again!
Here’s the ingredients, it basically only uses stuff I already have on hand anyway; the spices I just sort of threw in so the measurements are approximations only.
1 can whole tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
1/2 cup water
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. Italian season
1/2 Tbsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. roasted red pepper & garlic seasoning
1 tsp. rosemary
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
Now all you do is dump all of your ingredients into a slow cooker, give it a good stir, and let it cook on low for about 2 or 3 hours. I did give it a stir once or twice during that time period but I’m sure even left unattended it would be perfectly fine.
I’d also like to note about the tomatoes that I was feeling rather lazy and just dumped in the can of whole tomatoes however if you prefer you can either blend them first or use crushed tomatoes. I did find the tomatoes mostly disintegrated during the cooking but there were a few lumps.
After your sauce is done cooking just spoon onto your pizza crusts, add your other toppings and cheese, and enjoy!
That looks so good! I love that you made it in a slow cooker! Angie xo
